Swanston Golf Course sits
snugly on the lower slopes of the Pentland Hills adjacent
to Hillington ski slopes and adjoining Lothianburn Golf
Club. The course enjoys magnificent views over Edinburgh,
the Firth of Forth and onwards to Fife. Five miles from
centre of Edinburgh west of Biggar Road (A702) . Parkland
course. 18 holes 5024 yards. S.S.S. 66.
The course itself follows the contours of the land.
Some holes can be quite daunting but the views across
Edinburgh definitely make it worthwhile.
The 8th hole is reckoned to be the most beautiful on the
course with an elevated tee down to a horseshoe green. It
is a 201 yard par 3 and is surrounded by gorse bushes that
turn a striking yellow in summer. In the height of summer
the quality of the greens is well recognised.
A local story tells of a search party sent out to find a
party of American tourists who had set out to play the course
but had not returned. The club secretary upon finding the
lost party, encumbant amongst the heather on the 13th was
offered the explanation, "Gee, this is the best view
I've ever had. And all for only £3".

After your round, feel free to relax in our clubhouse where
David Wyse (clubmaster)

is a lovely bar that does excellent catering and all in
all visitors will be made most welcome.
Trolleys and motorised carts are available to hire.
Swanston is a very friendly and accommodating club and
looks forward to welcoming visitors from all over the world.
